Hospitality Manager

Location: Tuqtuquilal, Lanquín, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala
Type: Full-time | On-site
Ideal Dates: October 2025 - May 2026

Tuqtuquilal is seeking a warm, organized, and culturally curious Hospitality Manager to create meaningful experiences for guests visiting our regenerative center. Unlike a typical hotel stay, our hospitality approach is rooted in local and cultural immersion. We want guests to leave feeling connected to the Lanquín region and the Q’eqchi culture.

This role is ideal for someone who blends a high standard of guest care with a passion for intercultural learning and regenerative living. The hospitality manager is responsible for the smooth operation of our hospitality systems and offerings and ensuring that every guest feels welcomed, inspired, and well cared for during their stay.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Experience & Communication

  • Greet and welcome guests warmly. You will serve as their main point of contact throughout their stay.

  • Communicate with guests before arrival and during their visit to ensure all needs are met.

  • Offer thoughtful guidance to help guests immerse in local culture, nature, and community.

  • Promote onsite experiences like the Cacao Tour and visits with Q’eqchi farmer families in the Red Ratzum.

Daily Operations & Staff Coordination

  • Coordinate daily tasks with local staff: meal planning, cleaning schedules, laundry, etc.

  • Ensure rooms and common areas are clean, organized, and well-stocked with essentials (toilet paper, towels, kitchen basics).

  • Liaise between guests and staff for special requests, laundry, or needs requiring translation or cultural interpretation.

Bookings, Payments & Inventory

  • Manage online bookings through Airbnb, Booking.com, and our website.

  • Collect and track onsite payments for meals, experiences, and products.

  • Monitor and maintain inventory for guest needs and restock as needed.

Outreach & Partnership Development

  • Build creative partnerships with local businesses, restaurants, and tour operators to enhance guest offerings.

  • Promote our hospitality packages and special offers on social media and through strategic outreach.

  • Support with content creation, storytelling, and customer engagement to attract more guests and increase visibility.

Success in This Role Looks Like:

  • Guests leave inspired, connected, and eager to return — not just satisfied, but transformed. Success is measured by 5-star reviews with glowing comments.

  • Hospitality systems run smoothly: clean spaces, happy guests, stocked supplies.

  • Cultural and ecological experiences are integrated into every guest’s stay.

  • More visitors are finding and booking stays through creative outreach efforts. Success is measured by having our calendar booked and people staying for longer time periods.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience in hospitality, guest services, or retreat hosting

  • Strong communication and operational skills

  • High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity

  • Organizational skills to manage bookings, inventory, and guest needs

  • Experience with Airbnb, Booking.com, or similar platforms

  • Comfort with basic budgeting, tracking, and outreach

  • Spanish proficiency; speaking multiple different languages is a big plus

This role is for someone who is:

  • A people-person with a calm, grounded presence

  • A connector, guide, and organizer

  • Passionate about hospitality that is more than transactional — transformational

  • Excited to help people experience a deeper relationship with land, culture, and community

Exchange:

  • Accommodations

  • All meals provided

  • A monthly salary on par with standard local rates for managers
